Sometimes even moms need a time out!
The Dallas Mothers Of Preschoolers (MOPS) will be holding their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 13 at Evangelical Bible Church (EBC) and are inviting all mothers of preschoolers to join them.
“MOPS is a program designed to nurture mothers while they are in a special time in the mothering cycle. By discussing topics and issues relevant to the needs of moms and their families, we provide an important support network for moms in the community,” explained Kelleigh Ratzlaff, publicity leader and mom. All mothers, whether stay-at-home, working, young or old, with children ranging in age from newborn though five, are invited to join.
The MOPS program meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from September through May from 8:45 – 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Bible Church, located at 1175 SE Howe St. in Dallas.
“Our group gives moms an important outlet to meet other women, exchange ideas, seek guidance, and develop new friendships,” said Kelsey Ensz, MOPS Coordinator for the 2005-06 year. “We do this because we believe that mothering matters.”
A typical meeting consists of brunch, speakers, discussion groups, and creative activities. Last year, MOPS had topics such as decorating on a budget, music for toddlers, manners, dealing with postpartum depression, simplifying for the holidays and making a difference in your child’s school.
Childcare is provided through MOPPETS, a program that provides a loving, caring experience for children of MOPS moms. “We want to make sure every mother who wants to be part of MOPS feels secure about the safety and well-being of her children, and a number of people from EBC and neighboring churches have graciously volunteered their time to do just that,” said Sandy Christensen, MOPPETS coordinator.
MOPS costs just $20 per year and $2 per meeting. In return you will receive a Veggie Tales DVD, a subscription to MomSense Magazine, a devotional book, e-mail encouragement, brunch, a speaker, craft materials and childcare for 2 hours. Scholarships are available and your first visit is free.
