A big thank you to our guest speaker Joy Franz, who spoke to us about the seasons of life and told us the story of the seeds in the soil.
Spring is the time of year between winter and summer. It is warmer and when plants revive. It is the months of March, April and May and in the Bible is called "seed time."
Sower and the Seeds
Mark 4:1-20 (refer to this Parable)
Jesus is the sower in this story. The seed is the Word of God.
Response of seeds in soil
-For the seeds that feel beside the road
-They can take no root
-This is an example of what Satan will do to God's word. An example is to view Satan as the birds who ate the seeds and soil is our hearts.
-For the seed that fell on rocky ground
-These people recieved the message with joy, but only temporary because there are rocks underneath the surface and seeds can't take and flourish. Example: Judas.
-For seeds that fell upon the thorns
-The word of God was heard, but the worries of the world and desires of wordly things choke the seed, so can't grow.
-Example: Many people, good people who go to church, but worries of world don't let God's word into their heart.
-For seeds that feel upon Good Soil
-A person who hears the word of God, accepts salvation and goes on to bear fruit. Soft soil and prepared heart.
"The right gardener can break up hard ground or remove rocks or thorns."
Character of fruit bearing: (Galatians 5:22-23)-
Sprit of: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
